Currently my dishwasher is giving seven flashes and the light next to the rinse symbol is also illuminated.
I had this fault a few weeks ago and followed instructions from previous postings and was relieved to get it back in action. (I removed the left hand panel, cleaned the contacts on the little pcb at the bottom of the fill matrix and was delighted when it worked) I have repeated this action but alas, no joy. Although the dishwasher goes through the appropriate start-up sounds, the water does not rush into the fill matrix as before. (The hose is not kinked). There is a continual beeping sound which goes on for quite a while then stops – I cannot remember that happening last time.
Any suggestions? This appliance was in the house when we bought it, is approximately 3-4 years old and is hopefully worth repairing.

Just an update. This morning I managed to get the machine to run through a whole cycle uninterrupted. This was just by chance, as a result of my daily routine of pressing the on button to see if the flashing error light would disappear and it did. I then stacked the dishes in and it was back to the same sequence of bleeping and seven flashes. This evening it appears to be working again…..but for how long?
Can anyone suggest a cause for this intermittent fault? Also as a point of interest how high should the water level be in the flow matrix when it has completed a cycle?

It’s a problem with the flow meter. That’s the water wheel in the matrix. Standard problem is oxidisation of the contacts for the edge connector. A thorough clean and a pinch of the connector will often sort it.
Water can be held in the matrix for dispensing later as parft of the softener unit re-generation process.
Power off is you intend to do this yourself.

I have already cleaned the two strips on the little pcb and the pins on the associated plug and made sure that it is a snug fit (housed in the cavity on the bottom left hand side of the matrix). A month ago it resolved the problem immediately but not so readily this time.
Are there any other contacts that should be cleaned?.
Would cleaning the flow meter be of any value? Can it be accessed or is it intergral to the matrix?
If oxidation is a problem is it generally something that will reoccur?Re: Whirlpool ADG7540
You said that the problem is intermitent, so a connection is issue is most likely. Had the reed switch actually failed, it wouldn’t work at all. One chap last week lopped off the connector and soldered the wires directly to the pcb and seems to be a happy sort of bunny……..
