ParticipantI have a hoover dishwasher hds 556 ms-80, I tried to get a manual off the Hoover site but the model is not there. I thought the manual may help getting it sorted.
Anyhow, It isn’t filling so I emptied out the water by tipping it, this allowed it to start filling but only a few seconds then it emptied it, then nothing. There are two red lights on, one looks like a snowflake and the other circulating arrows?
Anyone know what I need to do (in easy terms please)?November 23, 2008 at 2:09 pm #269257cockney steve

wild guess ,heater u/s or wash-pump…..logically, It’s detecting fill but then needs to heat and spray water….again I’d think the heater waits for the pump ,otherwise it would overheat without the cooling effect of water-circulation…….
Methinks,(judging from your “simple terms” note,…..the “find an engineer” button at the bottom is going to be your best bet.dishwashers are definitely NOT for the beginner in appliance-repairs!
(now wait for a professional to say “clean XXX and Bob’s your uncle 😳 )November 23, 2008 at 3:58 pm #269258lynna

Thank you,, I’m not too good at explaining things. I will price some pumps, though it did pump out some water more or less as soon as it went in.

2 pumps on most dishwashers 1 to pump water out and 1 to circulate water,if the circulation pump has gone it will cause the problem you have.

That will be it then, because one of the lights is under what I class as a circulation symbol. Can you use any hoover dishwasher pump, I can’t seem to find much at all with the model no it’s got?

sorry, I should have differentiated more clearly…as smartin points out…there are normally 2….they’re entirely different from each other and , NO -there’s NOT a “universal” one. In fact, you’ll often find with ANY appliances (even a simple oven or hob) there are modifications during the model’s production life,- that’s WHY the serial number is SO important.
I honestly think this is far too advanced for your skill-level-electricity can and DOES KILL also it doesn’t mix well with water 😥
“find an engineer” time! (unless you have a savvy friend/relative/neighbour1

My brother-in-law can do it, just trying to find some things out beforehand as he is very busy at the moment. I don’t fiddle with things I don’t know about, don’t want no accidents.
