ParticipantHi guys, i’m pretty new to the site and wonder if you can help, my dishwasher has stopped heating, I have had a look and the heater looks fine 26.2 ohms, reading previous posts lots of people seem to suggest the relay on the main PCB, before i get a new one i would like to test the temperature sensing element i have tested for resistance to see if it is an RTD but i am not getting the results i would expect it also it doesn’t seem to be a thermocouple as i am not getting any microvolts from any combination of the 4 wires. is this a special unit or is mine faulty as £35 for a new sensing element is better than £100 for a new PCB module.
Thanks for your help

Definitive discussion on the subject took place HERE. Same basic machine; never had a duff temperature sensor yet!

Thanks Penguin 45, you were right just as the others had found the pcb had a dry joint on the relay pin would never if thought it from looking at the top though no burning or any sign!! re soldered put it back now i have another fault, turn the power on select a temperature say 60 deg the machine seems to fill for a bit the little scrubbing brush LED goes out then aprox 30 seconds later the green temperature LED flashes aprox 11 times then the end of cycle (red)LED flashes once then the temp LED 11 times and so on,
The same repeats for any temprature, i have tried puting some water in the machine and it seems to pump out ok so i guess it is something to do with the heating circuit still any ideas????
Thanks Toby

Interesting – 11 flashes (you’re sure?) suggests a problem with the turbidity sensor. This is a device which, using an infra red sensor, measures the clarity of the water circulating in the machine. Bit unfortunate really, as your machine hasn’t got one, which may suggest some sort of corruption issue with the pcb.
Sorry,

The turbidity sensor, it may have one as it has an auto wash function which i assume looks at the solids (TDS) or opacity of the water so if the dishes are clean low TDS, if they are dirty high TDS keep going?? where would the sensor be ?? or do you think i should cut my losses and just get a new PCB??
Thanks for your quick reply !

The temperature sensor (or the combined temp/turbidity sensor) pokes into the sump below the filter. There are 10 versions of this machine; as far as I can tell, none of them has the turbidity sensor fitted. If you can locate it poking through, the combined device has two “prongs” protruding from it. The standard temperatuer sensor does not.
As to replacing the PCB, it would be my favourite culprit. It is however, expensive and you are taking a chance on a part which will not be returnable under any circumstances.
Sorry I can’t be more informative – this is one of those jobs where if, as a repairer I was hands on, I’d be able to work it out. Damned near impossible to be dead accurate remotely.

cheers
