    Hi,

Firstly – great forum. Spent a while searching and reading posts. Very useful info!! Thanks.

    Few questions about our washer-dryer

I’ve had engineers out before as it stopped heating. Turned out the thermostat was faulty, so they replaced that. Then the condenser (think thats the right part – might be wrong though) clogged so they cleaned that out.

It stopped heating again over the weekend, so I unplugged and took the top off (after reading this forum and thus saving a callout charge – thanks!!) and clicked the thermostat. End result is its working great now!

However, I’d like to clean the condenser out as its been 9months since it was last done. It would also allow us to dry more fluffy clothes as currently we only use it for bed sheets and other non-fluffy stuff.

So… I’ve photographed what I ‘think’ is the condenser. Is this the right part?

    Few questions…

    1) I’m not sure how to release the clips on the pipes. I’m quite handy with DIY but not familiar with these. Any help? Are they easy to do back up again?

    2) Will the pipes be full of water?

    3) Is the condenser easy to take apart to clean? Any precautions needed with the wires coming out of the top?

    4) Any other general advice?

Thanks SO much for your help guys. Really appreciated. 😀

    That is the drain pump.

There may well be a filter inside or connected to the large black rubber hose that can be cleaned but the condensor is elsewhere.

I have never even seen one of these machines but the condensor will be a large plastic affair, going from top to bottom down the side or back of the drum. In fact the very bottom part of it may be just visible in the top left hand corner of your picture.

As I am not familiar with this machine I dot not know how difficult this is to clean, safe to say that cleaning condensors on 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of washer dryers is not an easy task.

Drying ‘fluffy’ clothes in a washer dryer is not a good idea, this is one of the reasons the condensor gets blocked in the first place. In fact it is one of the many. many reasons that we advise people not to buy a washer dryer if at all possible.

    Dont buy one

A large pair of pliars or mole grips will get the clips off.

There will be water in the machine, tilt it forwards and place a washing up bowl or large roasting tray underneath and have a few large towels handy.

You should not need to touch the wiring, just be sure to remove the mains plug first.

    Thanks for the quick reply!!!

I’ll sort out some more photos later to help identify the condenser. Is this the part that would likely to be clogged up?

Fluffy clothes – yeah, I think I won’t put any in there. We’ve got an apartment so limited on space. Next house will definitely have separate washer and dryer!!!

    Thanks again 🙂

If that plastic tube that I can just see the bottom of is the condensor, then looking at the material it is made from it may be possible to actually see any build up of gunge just by having a look at it from its outside.

I would guess that if there is a filter in the large black sump hose then that would be the first and easiest thing to examine.

fro the picture my guess is the plastic piece top right would be the pressure chamber not the condensor

TOP LEFT, 😉 you may well be correct though 🙂 , I have no idea who actually makes this machine. 😕

Looking more closely at the pump mountings I think you are spot on, oh dear. 😥

    Thanks guys.

Put a wash on earlier and it didn’t heat up… 🙁

Had another look around – You’re right… the condenser is further up and goes to the top of the drum. I’ve removed the bottom rubber hose and its full of fluff.

Amazed as we’ve only been using it for bed linen, underwear, t-shirts etc.

Oh well… least I know the problem so i’ll get busy with cleaning out all the fluff out of there and hopefully that’ll fix the problem 🙂

    Cheers

    Update…

Took off the bottom black pipe and managed to clear all the fluff from the condenser. The fluff was about the size of two golf balls and all collected at the bottom near the black pipe, so was relatively easy to pull out. It would have significantly blocked the water from escaping easily, so assume this has caused the thermostat to trip?

Rest of condenser looks pretty clear.

Have put the wash back on to dry and its a LOT hotter than it was when I did the 30min test cycle earlier today (pre clearing the fluff).

Am I right in saying if I do the same clean about once every 3-6 months then that should keep the dryer working well? Fingers crossed anyway.

Will keep anything fluffy well away from it!!!

Want to say thanks again guys. Really appreciate you helping a new user out in this way. Will make sure to recommend this site and come here when I need parts etc.

    Cheers 😀
