Please help!
I have a Zanussi ZWF 1421W, serial number 603 00693, purchased in April 2006. It has been fine up until this morning. I periodically check the pump for objects as my kids often leave things in their pockets. This morning I did a check, but when I pulled out the emergency emptying hose it felt quite loose and came out further and quicker than usual. I removed its cap, but no water came out. I then unscrewed the pump cover to remove it and that’s when water started to come out and also from underneath the machine. It was quite a lot.
I put the pump impeller and cover and emptying hose back together but when I started a wash, water immediately began to come out from under the machine in quite a gush. I switched it all off and left it!
I really have no idea what to do and checking the pump impeller is the limit of my technical ability. Is this likely to be something that can be fixed or am I looking at a new machine?
no, its quite sipmple really, and they do come off at the pump end quite often
if you tip the machine back, and look underneath, then you should be able to see where it fits on the pump housing, altohough you may now need to find another way of securing the hose to the pump body, as its obvously loosened a little bit
dont panic! its not anything like as bad as you think
but remember, safety first, plug out, and work safely!
Ooooh! Thanks ever so much for your great advice. I’ve done as you suggest and, yes, the little hose thing has become detached. Thought I was up for a new washing machine and wondering how to break the news to The Grumpy One (husband on return from work). 😀
