ParticipantHey all,
Looking to buy our first cooker, tired of using the combi microwave!
I took a look into this a few months ago, and came to the conclusion that the Cannon C60ET was one of the few remaining freestanding cookers built to last.
Unfortunately, from the place I’m considering getting the appliance from, they only sell the lesser cannon models, but do have the Hotpoint E84X, which looks the same aside from a different front, and appears to have the same functionality and features. Are they both the same? The Hotpoint is cheaper, but not by much.
Is this still the one to go for when looking to spend no more than around £500 (without significant reason, it’ll probably be on credit!), or are there others I should be looking at?
Cheers for any help 🙂November 24, 2008 at 10:48 pm #269459iadom

They are basically the same unit, all produced under the Indesit banner for some time now.
I would hang on until morning, the man in the know is Don, worth waiting for his knowledgeable input.

Hi LFW
While the functions are indeed the same across the two models, the Cannon comes out best due to the heavier guage of steel on the cabinet and doors. Much more substantial machine all round.
Our daughter had the same choice late last year as a house warming present. “No contest” she said after opening and closing doors etc ,it has to be the Cannon.

Hi don…had a feeling of daja vu, so looked at my old posts and you posted something similar in reply to me before!
Sadly my previous plans were put on the back burner (as it were!) but am now almost ready to take the plunge and spend a small fortune on our first cooker!
I’m glad I checked here before ordering, I had no idea there were such substantial differences between the two appliances, being effectively the same units.
Despite being made by the same people, and looking the same, they really are that much difference? Around this sort of price range, is the Cannon still the best to for? Is it worth spending any more on a 60cm wide electric cooker?
Cheers (again!)

Hi LFW
While the two companies come under the same banner the build quality on Cannon has always been higher. I can certainly recommend them. In fact we sell more Cannon cookers than all other suppliers put together, which is purely down to the quality of product.HTH

Well the cooker will have to wait til next month, but I got my Bosch WAE28467GB washer today! 🙂
Done the program it suggests be done on first use with an empty load, now just washing a load of cottons, using the Cottons-Stains program as suggested in the manual, with the Wash Plus feature.
No idea if that’s the ‘best’ wash program for the job, I used to just use ‘medium cottons’ on my Ariston before it packed in!
