    Hello specialists …

I have an old Zanussi fridge freezer. Model ZF 67/51. It is about 25 years old. This is a single compressor model with a control for fridge temp and a separate one for freezer temp.

A few weeks ago the appliance just stopped working. The mains indicator light was still on but there was nothing happening. When the mains was powered on there was no click or any other sound from the fridge freezer. (The fridge & freezer stats were set to max to make sure they were calling.) As the appliance warmed up the warning light showed it was working too.

Here is the user guide for this fridge freezer. http://e.imagehost.org/download/0718/Zanussi_fridge_freezer_ZF_6751.pdf

A local repairman found that if he used a wire to short something on the control board then the compressor started up and all seemed ok. However he did not know what had failed on the circuit board and he could not find a replacement board. (It seems few of these were sold and the appliance is too old to find parts). So he declared it as unrepairable and that was that.

It seems a shame to throw the appliance away when it is working except for some failing board component. Especially as it is my only fridge freezer. (I lost all the contents when it went wrong.) I wonder if anyone knows the way one of these boards work to guess if there a component replacement to try which is something I do myself.

These images are of the top and underside view of the control board. Is there anything there which is known as a likely point of failure?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi smarko,

There are no parts available for those machines any more, they are well and truly obsolete. You’re only hope is if someone happens to have one laying around which is unlikely I’d expect.

    Sorry.

    Sorry.K.

Unfortunately, I gathered it was hard to replace that board.

However my hope springs eternal! …. The circuit board looks as if it is made up of very conventional components. I recall how on a dishwasher thread here what was needed was for the pin on a relay to be resoldered because it was prone to getting hot and the solder would weaken at that point.

With realistic but unfinished hope I would like to have a go at trying something before I consign it to the recycling. Does anyone know of anything in the board I might focus in on to test or check out? Even a guess is a start!

    Thanks once again.

Re: HELP! Control board problem on old Zanussi fridge/freez

There are a few parts still available for this Fridge/Freezer, but with all pre-Electrolux Zanussi appliances you have to manually convert the old 6 digit Zanussi part number into the newer (current) 11 digit Electrolux part number.

The parts diagram for model ZF 67/51 can be found here: http://procornerpdf.electrolux.com/Pict … 10/309.PDF

If the part you require is the one labelled ‘632’ then it is still available. Old part number 113486 translates into new part number 50113486000.

Hope this is of some use.

    Tom.
