The green light flashess four times but the machine does empty – I’ve put more water in with a kettle, switched on and it empties straight away but then sits with the pump running until it cuts out and goes back to four flashes again.

From looking at the blogs I guess it’s the pressure switch that’s at fault – do you agree?

I’ve had a look under the filter and can see a small (3mm?) hole at the 9 o’clock position which seems to be clear of any debris. What next? Is replacing the pressure switch difficult?

    😕

Four flashes means that no drain has been detected in the time allowed. As you state that the machine is emptying, it is reasonable to assume that the Water Indicator is either full of congealed goo and is being held in the “full” position, or that the microswitch on the back of the unit has failed.

Locate the black grid in the sump at the 3 o’clock position and attack it vigorously with a toothbrush and plenty of hot water. It may scrub clean enough to allow it to reset. If not, you’ll have to remove it for proper cleaning or replacement. It’s a twist fit from under the machine.

    Power off first, please.

Thank you Penguin 45, that worked, although on my machine there is no black grid, just a small triangular hole. As you suggested I used a toothbrush – nothing apparent came out but the switch has obviously re-set and the machine is working!
