A customer I went to yesterday (to fix her Bosch dishwasher) told me her sad tale about her Miele Condenser Dryer. 🙁
3 yrs old and then ‘no heat’, Miele come along and charge her £120 for fitting a new thermal cutout. 5 months later it goes wrong again, same Miele guy comes along and does the same fix and insists she pay in full again. She moans, he takes the £11 part off the bill, she stumps up the remaining full call-out fee again!
Not much of a guarantee there then…how long is their guarantee for work done anyway?? Mines a full 12 months (parts & labour) but clearly that’s not the Miele way of working… :rolls:

i think its 12 months unless the engineer thinks its customer missuse ie not cleaning out condenser, filters etc then even if its in the main 2yr guarantee its chargable 👿

Well, I only have the customers word on this but I recall her commenting that on the engineers first visit he stated that he “wasn’t sure what caused the fault?”…..so take from that what you will? :rolls:
I would have thought a firm like Miele would give 12 months, but my question still stands… 😉

“CONDITIONS AND TERMS OF THE GUARANTEE
This Guarantee provides benefits which are additional to, and do not
affect, your other legal rights. Miele will repair free of charge any
appliance supplied by Miele and located in the United Kingdom or repair
or replace any part or parts thereof which are shown to the satisfaction
of Miele to be defective due to faulty materials or workmanship within 12
months from the date of purchase (or 24 months if you have applied for
the extended guarantee of 2 years). If any domestic appliance has, in
Miele’s opinion, been used for commercial purposes, the period of cover
will be reduced to 6 months. Any part or parts removed will become the
property of Miele.
THIS GUARANTEE SHALL NOT COVER ANY FAULT OR
DEFECT CAUSED BY:
a) faulty installation arising e.g. from failure to observe the instructions
of Miele;
b) careless operating, handling or misuse e.g. using unsuitable detergents,
lack of maintenance;
c) external sources e.g. transit damage, weather;
d) repairs or alterations carried out by parties other than Miele or an
authorised agent;
e) the use of non Miele approved accessories and dustbags.
This Guarantee shall not apply to nor cover any other claims whatsoever.
It will in particular (but without limiting the generality of the foregoing)
not cover any claims for conversion or modification or for the costs of
repairs carried out by any third party without the prior consent of Miele.
Before free service under this Guarantee can be provided, the purchaser
will be required to substantiate the date of purchase. If replacement
parts are fitted to any appliance this will not extend the period under

£229.00 to repair a three year old dryer, twice in six months. 😯 :rolls:
If he knocked the cost of the part off then by association he is admitting it should not have failed in less than six months. 😕
Perhaps we should let adamhornsby & eckostar read this. 😉

Well that’s for the appliance but what about their field service guarantess out of the appliance guarantee period? Do they have published terms for that I wonder? 😕
