ParticipantSome residue left on glasses and plates, and some items feel gritty. Detergent, salt, and rinse aid all in accordance with instructions. Filters all spotlessly clean. Rotor arms spin well and holes are clear. Heater is fine. Some water in bottom of dishwasher at end of wash, but this is below the horizontal filter plate (don’t know whether it should be there or not). I’ve tried a rinse with nothing in the washer, and when finished the water remaining below the horizontal filter plate seemed a bit cloudy (I thought it would be clear).
I’m fairly handy and don’t want to call an engineer unless the washer has to be removed from the kitchen unit. Any ideas gratefully received!December 4, 2008 at 9:21 pm #270707Penguin45

Underfilling is the usual problem. Have a read of THIS
Penguin45.

Many thanks for this Penguin45. If it’s fat deposits blocking pipes I wonder if there’s a chemical which would dissolve it. Do you think the rinse programme with a strong solution of soda crystals (or similar) might help? I’m reluctant to pull the machine out unless I have to (not as strong as I used to be). Unless this would cause damage I think I’ll give it a try – soda is cheap enough – and get the experts in if it doesn’t work.
Thanks again.
By the way, I was surprised to see that Neff instructions tell you to remove large food particles but not to rinse plates before putting in the dishwasher!December 5, 2008 at 9:25 am #270709clivejameson

Unfortunately there really is no substitute for opening it up and physically cleaning the pipework….it’s all on the incoming side so even trying to get a chemical in there is difficult i’m afraid.

Thanks Clive – I get these ideas but never know whether they’re sensible! There’s no substitute for knowledge and real hands-on experience.
