I was dreading this, my first service call on an ISE5-2. Only an interim service manual and no spares.

Customer says machine is making a funny clicking noise. She insists that she has not left anything in pockets or washed underwired bras etc.

    Calling tomorrow morning (Sat)

    Anyone had anything similar?

Had an interesting clicking noise on distribute/spin – turned out to be a loose screw allowing the lower pcb mounting plate to rattle against the chassis rail.

Will check it out and report back.

My money is on a foreign body in the drum but you know how adamant some customers can be. :rolls:

    Really weird one this. 😕

Went this morning, no physical obstructions of any kind. nothing at all that I could see mechanically wrong with machine.

Customer says that at first she was amazed just how quiet the machine was in operation. She says that she normally washes at night but has used it during the day recently and the clicking noise could be heard in the next room.

I set it to a wash programme and as soon as the door had locked and fill had started I am sure I heard a faint clicking/ticking sort of noise. It seemed to come from around the top right hand side looking from the front. Similar to the noise the old Hoover logic timers used to make as they stepped through the programmes but not as loud.

Unfortunately the noise only persisted for three or four seconds then stopped.

No matter what I tried I could not reproduce the noise again, regardless of which programme I selected. Sat with it for over 45 minutes without hearing a thing. 😥

I did notice that after I had removed and refitted the top and went to push the machine back under the worktop the plastic edges of the top panel did click and creak against the top of the cabinet. however the noise I heard for a few seconds was a steady, rhythmic clicking so I discounted the top as a possible cause.

ATM I have asked the customer to continue to use the machine and let me know if the noise occurs again.

An odd one for sure. ❓ ❓
