Having removed the faulty element in the main fan oven, have a new element but not sure how to reconnect it. Which wires go where? There are 2 sets of 2 white wires with red stripes, and a lone white with blue stripe wire. There are 4 prongs to connect these to. We have tried several combinations, one of which results in the element being on when the oven is switched off, and another which trips the consumer unit as soon as the oven is turned on. Help please!?

Unable to connect the element so had it installed by an engineer. However, the oven is still not operating correctly. Not sure if the switch has blown or if it is a problem with the thermostat. As soon as the main oven switch is on, whether for just the light or the fan oven option, the element heats up. Only when the switch is off does the element go off. The fan operates as normal when the fan oven option is selected.

As a replacement switch has been quoted at £150, we would like to ensure that the problem is with the switch before we go ahead. Any help would be appreciated.
