ParticipantI am looking for an adjustable work table. I know hotpoint and BG engineers use them, but how do I get my hands on one? I have searched the internet for companies that make them but no joy, so any suggestions from those engineers would be apreciated, Thanks in advance.

black and decker work bench, just as good.
or you could do what i done today..asked customer for a couple of chairs,
he duly returned with these sculptured tree type chairs.. i thought what the hell go for it..
to be honest they were quite good nice and heavy very stable..pity about the 7inch scratch right over the seat area where i moved cooker round so i could access rear panel..
he was one of those arty farty type customers and i think he got quite excited about the scratch..something like mother nature meets repair man type thing..whatever..anyway cooker fixed excited customer and me £90.00 richer…
maybe time to buy a workbench as theres not many arty farty customers out there..

was an interesting discussion.Chris.
Thanks Chris,
not sure that answers my question, I was rather hoping to find the wooden adjustable picnic type.December 14, 2008 at 11:43 am #271468Martin

Well you no doubt spotted the table I made in that link Chris gave you, did you? If not then take a closer look. Built through necessity at there being no alternative then or since. B & D Workmates are the closest ‘off the shelf’ tool you can get but their downside is big, bulky and non-adjustable height means often it is of little use.
You could however combine a Workmate with your own DIY type platform extension to allow more flexible height adjustment. E.g : Marine ply platform approx 80 x 80 cms with 4 chrome 25mm tubular kitchen unit type supports screwed into the corners. Each tube having several holes drilled at 2.5 cm intervals with a metal peg to vary its height anchorage. Then 4 corresponding holes drilled into the Workmate platform and job done!
