I noticed the motor earth tag on this machine is connected to a black wire rather than a green/yellow. The wiring does not appear to be modified. I traced the wire to the mains filter, where it goes into a multi pin plug to a terminal marked “R” on the filter. Anyone know what this is about? 😕

dunno but gives some strange faults if you leave it off or wire gets broken, its something to do with it being an induction motor though.

Yes this is normal for induction motors it is normal to strap 0volts to earth to remove induction and of course 0volts is black cable if removed inductance can create strange faults.

It connects to the suppresor then via a 100 Kohm rersistor to earth, this is only used on 3 pahse motors.

Motor is an ordinary CESET AC brush type.
