Called to this machine yesterday for a no draining problem. Turns out the machine did fill and drain ok, but the circulation pump is not kicking in, and then about 1 minute after filling stops, the “inlet/drain” light flashes. I don’t think the circ pump is trying to turn as it’s not getting hot, but I tried a new cap anyway, but no joy. There is no water in the base. Any ideas?

I have had similar problems and found the overfill float switch in the base corroded clean or replace microswitch and all should be ok

Is circulation motor turning by hand?
You should be able to turn the shaft at motor end with fingers or pliers.
    Power off obviously!
Circ’ pump could be jammed, which is a common problem, if no pressure is shown by pressure sw’ after supply is applied to motor it shows fault, its quite easy to disassemble the circulation pump to check for foreign bodies fouling impellor.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Not got in to turn circ motor by hand, but my feeling is that if it was jammed, then it would hum and get hot, which it’s not.

If the high pressure pressure switch is not activated within a few seconds of the motor being energised it will cut the power to it and flash the light as you said, hence not enough time to get hot and still filling with water so you would not hear it hum.

That sounds very plausible Mark. I will give it a go when I go back. Thanks very much.
