    Hello, newbie questions so please excuse me.

    I have a SMEG FAB28.

    Was unplugged one day and plugged in again the next. Not moved, and no apparent damage. New, but a few months out of warranty (typical).

    Fridge and freezer won’t cool. Compressor makes a low hum (lower than usual) and gets very hot. Condensor is not warm. Contacts on blocks are all sound.

    I have replaced the stat and this has not made any difference. It is a frost free model. The fan works when door swicth is activated.

    Any suggestions as to what to try next, or do I call for an engineer? I have a multimeter but would need talking through what to test.

    Sound like the compressor has chucked it.

    Prepare yourself for the bill, it’s gonna hurt. 🙁

    Hi

    It sounds like youve got a system restriction as this unit still runs on R134a refrigerant.

    I would recommend that you have it vacced out for a minimum of 30 mins and new drier and make sure the unit it switched off with both doors left open for a min of 48 hours before the engineer arrives to allow the restriction to soften up,It does sometimes take more than 1 attempt to clear.
