On a 50deg wash the machine stops on the rinse. On trying all the other rinse programs and the wash cycles that only take cold water, it does not start at all. The common thing here of course is the cold water intake.
On checking the plumbing I found the pipes unblocked and delivering water freely. Therefore could it be a problem with the cold water solenoid?
Whilst checking the plumbing I did discover that the hot and cold feeds were reversed and must have been for the 8 years I’ve lived here. Whilst this issue is not the cause now I thought it might be worth mentioning if only to say you can’t trust the plumbing when you move into a new home.
Has anyone got any suggestions?

Logically, the solenoid coil will have failed. If you have a test meter, the coil should read approximately 3.5kOhms when split from the circuit. Power off first.

Okay so I have pulled the connectors off and tested across the contacts. The green coil is open circuit and the white coil is near what you said at 4.1k so it is safe to say that the green coil is faulty. However how does the solenoid unit come away from the back of the dispenser compartment? The hose and jubilee clip on the bottom way is not a problem although out of interest what does this feed? Thanks for the pointers so far.
