    I’ve read the FAQ on this and it looks like it applies to our fridge.

    We came back from a week away over Xmas to find that the fridge lights were on, but the fridge / freezer (Bosch KGV2604/GB/04, “3 star cooler”) wasn’t working. Over this period, our home wasn’t heated so it was pretty cold. I turned the fridge on / off several times, but nothing happened. Once the flat warmed up, after several hours, the fridge worked OK.

    This morning – the same thing – the home temp has dropped over night.

    The operating temp for our fridge is +10 degrees C to 32 degrees C. It’s about 10 years old, but I don’t think that we have had this problem before. Whilst away for over a week at this time in the past, we may have left the heating on, but I can’t recall.

    I recently defrosted the freezer as large blocks of ice had formed in it over several months – everything worked fine afterwards.

    Note that the seals are starting to go on the doors, so this may also affect the shutdown problem – the seals have certainly got worse over the last 12 months.

    Can anyone confirm that the problem is related to the surrounding ambient temperature.

    All help appreciated.

    Hi David

    The only real way to check is to get the appliance back into a warm enviroment to which it has been desgned for ie +11oc and then see how it runs over the next week or so.If it does operate correctly then youve found your problem.If on the other hand it does shut down then it will need another look at.

    Thanks.
    The room the fridge is in is now pretty well up to normal room temperature, but the fridge is continuing to stop working,and won’t start working even if I switch on / off, until a few hours have passed. It has been making a bit of a gurgling sound (sorry, not very descriptive) for some time, so it seems to me as if it may not be a problem with ambient temperature after all. Any further thoughts?

    The interior light (heater)should come on dimly to aid defrost. Possible you will need a mod fitting to bypass a failed sensor. Unplug Power if you are going to have a look yourself.
