Does any one know the correct way to change the belt on one of these machines and do you need a special tool to fit the belt.

    Many thanks

There is a special tool that some of us in the trade use, a long bar with two small hooks to get the belt over the pulley.

Some of the trade peeps use a variety of other means, brute force, large screwdriver, socket and bar etc.

Using the special tool makes the belt replacement a 10 minute job in total but as the tool is around £25 to £30 it only makes sense for those of us who use it regularly.

Mains plug out, top and right hand (from front ) side off. Console released and laid to side without removing any wires. Ease front panel forward.
Make sure the large plastic ‘drainpipe’ is slotted back into place when you refit.

why take the console of at all?
side panel off, pull it a little forward, slip it on, cut yourself badly putting belt on, side panel back on

agreed, 10-15 minsis all it takes

Only two extra screws, one on console, the other in front panel. allows much easier access without bending the front panel and allows you to check the condition of the front seal & bearing pads. 🙂
