    Hiya,

I was looking at this page:

    http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Cooker+{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} … ement.html

Can someone please tell me which set of plates is suitable for my hob (TEBA TFG14GB12) so I can put an order in?

    I.e is it these type:

    or these type:

Also are there any instructions on how to replace them or can someone let me know what to do?

Any help would be much appreciated!

First one – second type use a gas capillary probe clipped into the centre – don’t think Teba ever did that. Check diameters before ordering – there are 145mm and 180mm versions available.

To fit, you will have to remove the hob top. There are usually two retaining screws at the back of the hob. The actually hotplates are fixed by a single centre nut. Make a diagram before removing any wires. We won’t be able to tell where they go if you get it wrong.

    Power off first, please.

    Hi

it’ll be the top one, either with or without the red spot. The hob will need to be taken out of the worktop and the base is held on by 4 large nuts. The wiring to each of the hob rings are the same and are numbered.

Ta much. I shall remember to power off (if you never hear from me again you know it’s because I forgot to).

The whole cooker is one of those all in one units – so I assume I just:

    1. test the cooker works.
    2. isolate power,
    3. test too see power has been disconnected, by turning it on again and ensuring it’s switched off,
    4. pull it away from the wall
    5. begin unscrewing, removing hobs whilst noting which wire connects to what…

    Thanks again.

    Problem Fixed

Just to confirm – swapped the plates yesterday. Very easy to do.

I started by isolating the cooker from electricity source.

Had to take the cover off the back (6 Philips screws), and remove the rear cover. Was then able to access the two hobs nearest me. Got the biggest nearest one off and then managed to replace the rest of them fairly easily and methodically. The (torx) screws had rusted so I just cut the cables which meant I knew which cable went in which hole. Took a pic just

All in all took about 45 minutes. So far the tenant hasn’t called back to complain so that can’t be bad 8)

One thing I noticed whilst I was working on this product – build quality looked poor. No wonder these guys went out of business.

    Hi Nads

One thing I noticed whilst I was working on this product – build quality looked poor. No wonder these guys went out of business.

When the whole appliance was only £49 what do you expect. For the money that was being paid for the appliances they was very good value.it was the likes of B&Q that caused them to go bust when B&Q change specs and ignore the engineers advise.

Sorry but its not always the manufacturers fault.
