Those of you that have been keeping you eyes open will be aware that the next meeting is to take place on 20th February 2009 at the Hilton Hotel in Coventry (http://www.hilton.co.uk/coventry).
Unlike previous meetings we have tried to bring all the manufacturers to the table, with aview to allowing the manufacturers, spare part suppliers and engineers all to get together and chat.
Some of the manufacturers have agreed to do company presentations and the spares suppliers will be there in force. Capita and Lokring have also been approached to do presentations on the new gas registration procedure and the Lokring system.

At this time of financial strife and reductions in manufacturers perhaps this is an ideal time to network with some of these companies and try and secure extra work to fill the gaps.

there seems to be a bit of confusion on the room bookings.All the rooms that I had reserved which was 25 have been taken so I will block another 15 tomorrow so those who want to use the GFFRS code will be able to do so tomorrow afternoon or if you telephone 0870 5909090 and quote the code and state that the price is £65 B&B they should be able to reserve for you.

Looks like a good meeting, hotel booked for Friday and Saturday so might as well make a break out of it too!! 😆
Will there be a members meeting on the Saturday morning as in previous meetings?

Lawrence is so right; but it’s a shame Connect are’nt attending – if anyone needs to be squeezed for discount it’s them……… 😈

Every one is slightly different Rob.
The format for this one is more of a infotainment one. In other words, we’re trying to inform and entertain at the same time but with some serious undertones.
Basically it entails what you make of it or can get from it. There’s rarely a better opportunity to get a lot of pointers, help, information and possibly work. And, with the spares suppliers there, help on that front as well.
It s a shame that Connect aren’t attending if that’s the case, I agree. Not because I think they need beat up or slagged off as no-one deserves that really but it does rob the attendees of the chance to talk to CDSL face to face. In the end they run a business their way and, if they’re happy with the way they do that then fair play, but it’s nice to understand why some things are the way they are. Usually talking to the likes of Dave Parker among others at Connect can explain things, even if you don’t agree you may be better able to understand.
That also goes for a lot of the manufacturers. Sure, we might not agree with some of the policies and we will often whinge like hell about them but that’s what you’d expect really. But, it isn’t personal and, again, when things are explained and put into context there’s often a lot of understanding on both sides I find.
For all it’s usually a very worthwhile use of a day.
You also have people there that have been in this business a long, long time like Jim, Chris, Ian, Lawrence, myself among a host of others that are only too happy to talk to you and help you if they can.
It’s also really nice, for we stalwarts as much as people that have never been to one before, to put faces to the names that we see flash up on the forums almost every day.
All in all, even the ones that I have considered to be not so good have been well worth giving up a day or so of my life for. If nothing else the company is worth that IMO.

I will check about Connect, when last I spoke to Dave Parker both he and Connect were coming.
