ParticipantJust thought I would drop by to have a little rant 😡 , I have a whirlpool condenser dryer and this will be the third time in exactly 12 months 5 days that I would now once again have to replace the dryer element.Well NO that’s it its going out the door to the tip had enough of it, I am surprised that the whirlpool did not have a trip out button on it , so now I need some advice on which condenser dryer to buy that has a trip out button on it that’s robust, it does not have to be a all dancing flashing lights job. all I want is a condenser dryer that’s going to last. Rant over.

they all have “trip buttons” these are safety stats which stops the machines bursting into flames when it gets too hot, most common causes of repeated failure on a condensor dryer are 1 blocked condensor ,2 blocked filter, 3 machine stopped while on a heat cycle or a combination of the all 3 hope this helps

Hi, I understand all three points you have pointed out, like I say this would be the third time, and after the second time it happened I pointed out all three points you mentioned especially point number 3 to the other two users of the machine, as last time the element literally melted which is what I thought had happened this time again but the element is intact and no wires adrift, ok the stats might have gone i don’t know but what a ball ache having to do that each time instead of just pushing a button to reset it. by the way one of the other two users is a teenager trying to tell a teenager anything is a waste of time in one ear and out the other as they don’t have to pay for repairs.

yeh i understand where you are coming from with regard to the teen thing lol, but as i said they all have them now, from the top of my head the only one that has a physical reset button is a bosch but they are still hidden away behind the panels.

Over the years several machines had reset buttons on the back. Jackson/Creda, Philips are just two I can think of.
AFAIK this is not now allowed due to the possibilty of a user continually resetting the machine when it has another fault and possibly leading to a fire.
I don’t know of any current machine that has a user reset that can be accessed from outside the machine but I could be wrong. 🙂

By far the best vented dryers out there at the mo, at least they can be worked on without cutting yourself to ribbons.

Hi and thanks guys for your input so far, update the dryer has not gone to the tip, bought a new element and stat kit off ebay £30 cheap option to having a working dryer again. BUT when I decided on this option I checked to see what went wrong with it in the first place, so out with the multimeter only to find that the stats are fine but the element had blown so me thinks something wrong with the wiring sequence somewhere, maybe my fault from last time it was changed so I dont want to put the connections back if they was in the wrong order and blow the element again. and having no diagram am what you might call well stuck basically. Hence I am here again asking for your help 😆 . Karl.
