    the red or hi temperature light on my freezer has come on for no apparent reason and won’t go off any ideas

    no i put some shopping in the freezer on sunday but the light came on tuesday morning.

    i wouldnt be overly shocked if the compressors on its way out

    about 18 months old is it?

    i have had it for five years is a compressor repair expensive or can i order the spare online and get my husband to repair it, or would it be cheaper to buy a new freezer.

    It’s not a user-replaceable part….it’s the “engine” that powers the whole thing and make it cold the only other main bits are the casing and the tubes that wrap round the inside-casing and make it cold….so, it costs more to fit a new one and refill with refrigerant gas, than the thing is worth.
