ParticipantHotpoint DF53 dishwasher.
Fault – no heat. I checked the heater for continuity and earth leaks; the heater seems fine. Reset the toc behind the sump (the red button had popped) and the machine then heated perfectly.
The filter was quite blocked when I arrived, so I put the toc O/C problem down to that. Cleaned the filter – all OK.
The machine has stopped heating again so I’m assuming the toc has popped – again. Anyone else had this problem before on this type of dishwasher? (I think it is a Brandt).Any pointers would be appreciated!!!!
Thanks,
Steve.

Hi
Have had this before a while ago. It could be the pressure pipe partially blocked. If there is not quite enough water flowing past the stat it tends to ‘pop’. I also believe there was a mod. If it’s the type where the pressure pipe loops up at the side you can shorten it slightly and that may cure it.
Hope this helpsMark

Thanks, Mark.
I have cleaned the pressure hoses and checked everything I can think of. 😕 I’ve had this problem before and haven’t had a call back after cleaning the sump and resetting the ‘stat. As usual with problem jobs, this machine is right out on the edge of my area; built in and up on blocks in the back kitchen of a chip shop. Lovely greasy floors……… 👿Any other pointers??
Thanks,
Steve.

I would shorten the pressure pipe slightly and make sure the hoses running from and to the motor are clear and any others for a good water flow and maybe order new stat as it may be over sensitive.

good point would that make the stat pop though? I presume hot water running through pipe for a lot longer than norm/

It is a DF53-Brandt produced and uses a washing machine style flat element. A lot of scaling and grunge keeps water away from the thermostat causing it to trip off by the heat from the element..

Where is the resettable toc located? Got one this morning that had a flooded base due to drains backing up. Now no heat after draining base. Its years since i did one. This is a stoves badged brandt.

It’s on the top of the heater box/sump unit on the DF53.

The button is on the TOP of the heater unit and can be reached (just) by pushing your hand down the right hand side of the sump and it’s just round the corner behind the sump. Possible to do….
HTH,

Too much foam from using rinse aid and tablets can trip the cut out.

Had to go back as she said it was leaking from corners. Lower wash arm split again (replaced 3 yrs ago). Ran out of water I think. Not heard back from her since.
Cheers guys
