ParticipantI was contacted today by a Mr steven Meredith (from indesit) the subject was about working for indesit, apparently they don’t have agents any more it all done with franchises. So this is what the conversion held, the only money outlay in the beginning is £5.000 which is for stock, the parts are bought for 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} below trade but when a part is needed on one of their jobs I then sell it back to them at the same value so there’s no money to be made on parts, also I can’t source parts elsewhere only from them. That’s pretty much all I got because we agreed to a meeting to discuss this further (only way to get him of the phone) So my question is does anybody else here work a franchise for indesit? What’s the pay like per job? Any bad experiences? And any views and/or advice. Many thanks people.

The best thing to do before you get answers from the franchise engineers who are also UKWG’s members is to use the search facility at the top of the forum page.
Enter, “Indesit AND franchise”, in exactly that format in the search box and you well get some ‘interesting’ reading.
As they say on Crimewatch, ” don’t have nightmares”, or was that the ‘Outer Limits’ 😆

Some of those posts are from 2007 so the fees may be a little out of date.
Chances are that it will still be considerably less than the rip off £99.85 they currently charge the general public for a service call when they have had the misfortune to have purchased one of their recent offerings. :rolls:

The prices are exactly the same they have not gone up.
My advise is DO NOT DO IT!!!!!! When things go quiet in whatever area you are in they will turn off the tap immediately and you will be left with no work!!
The only guys I know who are doing alright by it are blokes employing 4/or more engineers as I think the rates are higher then.January 16, 2009 at 9:16 pm #274203johnnyj

I did it about a year and half ago having worked for them for about 23 years, as Kiddo 66 says if the work drys up you get starved, i have enough of my own to offset that now, i only look at it as a fall back now if my own work tails off i still have something to fall back on, oh! and the agreement you sign is ignored as and when thety feel like, they also try and control you like an employed engineer whith targets etc etc.

ParticipantI was asked a couple of years ago to do gas work for them, I told them there was no way I would pay for the stock and secondly that I wouldnt get out of bed for that sort of rate.

The nightmare of the Indesit franchise still continues with me to this day, thats 5 years after giving it up, or should I say thats 5 years when the Merloni brothers though it would make better financial sense to let Hotpoint run the UK operation.
It was made very clear to all of us happy and contented franchises at the E-mit training weekend, that Hpoint didn’t want the burden of franchise’s, and they would gradually get us all back on board as company engineers.
Their methods were downright criminal, I wont go in to details as they have already been posted, but suffice to say they royally screwed us all, and if you didn’t go bankrupt you were lucky.
It still appears a honeytrap to this day, with a very nasty sting in the tail, you end up owing them, you then have no choice but to take up their kind offer to become a company engineer, then you are buggered!
Good to see you have politely told them no thanks, thank god for this site!

I am currently a very very happy franchisee for the indesit co. they are a very decent & honest company.
I have just made my first million after only 18 months!
the uniform is great …..although a little tight! I really can’t understand why they need so many straps? I like the colour though ‘cos white kinda goes with everything 😀
Sometimes when people call me I have to say “I am tied up right now” but that is only when I am working from the office, which incidently is a new take on “Flocked” wallpaper…….Mine is nicely quilted and it is on the floor as well as all the walls!
Must go now ‘cos Babe wants her wings trimmed.
Oh good luck with your new FRANCHISE 😈
