knox
ParticipantHi I have an Indesit wil143s washing machine thats playing up.
It takes water in spins a for a couple of minutes then drains the water and the 4th green led light starts flashing slowly along with the red door locked light blinking rapidly. I tried a search but could not really find anything.
Can anyone shed some light on what this means or could be.
Cheers
kay

Its not Councillor Knox by any chance. 😉
4th light flashing is not good news, suggests a motor triac fault, in essence the main PCB has more than likely failed.

Thanks for the quick response
Its not Councillor Knox by any chance. Wink
its not lol
does that mean no easy repair. will i need a new pcb? or is it possible to get a pcb out of a faulty (not same fault as mine) indesit machine?
Or is it time to start saving for a new non indesit washing machine?
Thanks again

A very strong chance it will need a new PCB, £8o to £90 ex vat, which also needs a £15 smartcard to programme it, you also need a smart card reader at between £50 & £75 to use the smart card to programme the new PCB.
You would have to find exactly the same machine, at the same age to find a suitable used module. Chances are that most of the ones that have been scrapped already have a faulty module. 😥
The Indesit Company do have a maximum repair charge, just over £100 I think.

PS. There is a well known local (Oldham) councillor called Kay Knox. I have visited her on one occasion to write off a 2 year old Indesit. 🙂

Thats what I was afraid of!
In your opinion should I bother repairing it? Is it just throwing good money after bad?
would I be better of quitting while im ahead and starting from fresh with a new machine or paying the £100 odd indesit fee
It was bought for £300 around 18 months ago
Is there a reasonably priced quality washing machine you can recommend that wont die after a couple years?

can anyone advice if its economical to repair?
Are these ISE machines any good?

The ISE machines have been very reliable, I have around 200 on my area now.
A decent quality machine will cost you at least £350 upwards so for the £100 or so that the Indesit Company will charge you then it might be worth it, even if it only lasts another 12 to 18 months.
