    Hi gents,
No heat and not current to element. The microswitch on the heater is open circuit but the element is ok. I’ve never taken one of these apart so shooting in the dark here so what could be the cause? No breaks in the loom at the bottom of the door but where are the stats?
Please point me in the right direction and maybe one day I will dismantle one.
    Thanks
    Rob

If there isn’t enough water in the machine there won’t be enough pressure to make the microswitch to bring on the heater.

So first thing to check is the transfer tube. Plenty of threads on this, somewhere.

The microswitch on the heater box is never a problem as a rule. The most common cause is the relay terminal on the PCB….have you looked at the control unit? 😕

    Thanks Tim and Martin,
Transfer tube? is that the one from the matrix to the sump..It’s clear.
Didn’t look at the main pcb so will check that but as the power goes to the element through the m/switch if it’s o/c then no heat surely?

You may be right there Rob but I think that perhaps the heater is switched on the neutral side by the relay on the PCB? 😕 Worth a look at least. 😀

    Hi, Rob, :waving:
The switch on the heater box ONLY shows continuity when the wash pump is running. The pump builds up pressure inside the box and pushes the plunger back to operate the switch. 😉
I’m with Martin on this – PCB soldered joint around the middle of the board regularly blows. Swift solder job sorts it 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time. The other 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} = new PCB. Cheapest to buy it direct from BSH with trade discount – Connect are way too expensive……..!!!

    HTH,

    Steve.

    Hi,
went back today and it was the board with a dry joint so thanks Steve. Never knew about the pressure on the m/switch so I’ve learnt two things on this job. One day I’ll pluck up courage to get right inside.
    Thanks for everyone help.
    Rob
