    I have tried 3A and 5A fuses. However, they blow immediately.
    Initially it would only blow if, the light switch or motor switch was on when the fused spur was switched on. Now it seems to do it regardless.

    Any ideas what might be causing this ?

    the pcb/swithes is normally the culprit on these or sometimes the lampholders. Check to see if there are any of these parts have blown(looking for black carbon blow marks). ***Make sure that it is unpugged/disconnected from electricity first!***
