    Hi,
I have a wonderful Admiral GS22B6C3EV fridge freezer, 13 years old, (426l/176l capacity)which is sadly failing.

The problem is that we can’t afford a Maytag of a similar size (£1900) – and the cheaper models seem to have a much smaller fridge and a bigger freezer. As we have a chest freezer (although possibly on its last legs at 25 years old), we don’t need a big freezer, but we do like a big fridge with an ice maker.

So we seem to have these options:
The GE GC23LDC fridge freezer – 408l/214l – a comparable size and currently available for £1299 with a 5 yr guarantee

Another make – but which one? All the other fridges at a similar price seem to be about 340l – not really big enough and made by Samsung and LG.

Or would we be better off with a larder fridge and upright freezer and forego the ice?

If so what make would be best, given it must be under 180cm tall?!

    Thankyou, kind people!

Site is monumental – it’s been a huge help and at least we know what to stay away from

My money, given the choices, would easily be on the GE machine as it at least is a pukka American machine. 😉

The GE won’t be too far away from the Maytag, but a whole lot cheaper.

    I’d avoid the Korean clones.

    K.
