ParticipantGuys,
I need a favor from you technical wizards that work wonders with WM’s.
My sister’s Beko WMA510W has developed a strange fault. When washing the drum is a little noisy in turning, nothing major, bit raspy (sounds like me) but when it goes onto the final spin, there is water pulsing through the prewash side of the soap dispenser, and the motor sounds as if it is struggling a wee bit. Clothes are spun at end of cycle, but appear a little wetter – My question is, is it worth repairing? (she sighs…..probably not, & I know who will end up having to buy her a new one……whinge mutter moan!) Also because of this “pulsing” with the water, the pipes sound quite musical in the loft. LOL! – Any ideas?
And if anyone says “dodgy plumbing” I shall scream! :eeek:

Hi WQ,
There has been a known issue, although rare, on that Beko range where the PCB will cause a pulse to be sent to the valve that controls the inlet to the conditioner compartment in that way. I’ve not heard of it happening on the prewash side but it’s too similar a symptom to ignore the deduction that that could be the problem.
Drum noise could be caused by the motor itself, motor bearings (almost unknown on a Beko) or the carbons which is not unknown. Or it could be the drum bearings on the wane which, again, is not unknown.
Like most machines these are designed for about 1200-2500 cycles of use so the volume of use is a huge factor in how long they will last before they are almost certain to fail. Divide by 350 roughly to get an average expected lifespan before something breaks. The caveat being, things can break sooner, it’s just a machine in the end.
But, if it were me walking in with the symptoms reported, I’d be looking to those as the likely suspects.
The only good news is that Beko parts, for the most part, aren’t too badly priced to be fair to them.

Thanks Kwatt, I shall pass that on to her when I see her tomorrow for lunch.

This fault is caused by a faulty motor armature, the raspy noise is the motor brushes arcing badly, this seems to upset the control module causing water valve to pulsate.
