ParticipantHi,
My Proline TDV60 door seal has fallen off. It appears to be in perfect condition, and with persistence I can seem to refit it. It’s the same one as many Creda, Crusader, Electra, Hotpoint and Indesit models (see below).
I can slide the outer lip of the grey rubber seal through the small gap between the drum and the front housing and continue working it in all the way around.
I am fitting it to the front housing, not the drum (gap/slot of seal towards the front). I hope this is correct?!
Eventually it seems to be fitted in very snugly and seems to be fully ‘home’; that is, when I press it very firmly from the back towards the front I can feel it seating itself fully and evenly onto the font housing.
Yet it still ‘rubs’ against the drum, so when I rotate the drum (with effort) it just pulls it off again.
Either I’m fitting it wrong – not fully home or the wrong way around – or I simply need a new one (but it does look like it’s ok).
How (exactly) is it supposed to be fitted, please?
Many thanks, in advance,
John Jamieson
PS I can’t find this spare here, but it’s on espares as
http://www.espares.co.uk/part/washing-m … -seal.htmlIt fits all these other models (below) , so it must be a pretty common part/problem.

Door seal simply hooks over the edge of the raised flange on the front of the casing. It doesn’t go anywhere near the drum.
If you want a replacement, it’s p/no C00095978 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly.

…that is sooooooooo funny
I can’t believe how stupid I was, I can’t believe I even managed to get that seal on the drum bit (funny thing is it did actually fit, sort of!) :rolls:
I’m usually a pretty good handy-man type, but it just goes to show how dumb the public can be – I just didn’t realise I was one of the public until today… how sobering….
And I’m still laughing….
Of course, it went back on fine in its PROPER place in about 10 seconds and is holding up strong – no replacement needed.
Thanks for idoit’s advice…
John
