KeymasterAhead of everthing else here’s a sneak peak at the fascia design for what I dubbed the ISE AW23.
ISE Auto Washer 2 year, version 3 is the coding for the model so it’s easy to follow. Any further models I hope will follow the same pattern of model number encoding.
Anyway, without further ado here’s what the front runner would look like…

As you can see, full LCD backlit display as well as “Noddy” ISE10 type control system. Three shocks as opposed to two. A+AB rated. 1400 spin, time delay and all the rest of the bells and whistles.
And, get this, Sean’s taken on apart and loves it. He reckons it’s a joy to work on, which is a real bonus.
John should be seeing you all in next few weeks to let you see the prototype one he got yesterday.
John’s gonna kill me for posting this but, ah well, what the hell… 😆

So, essentially a replacement for the 5 model. What about the 2 price range?
What warranty is included in the £399 ?

It’s an ISE2 on the fascia, there’s a clue. 😉
It’s not a 5 replacement, there’s not a suitable machine at a suitable price to do that at the moment with the massive changes to the value of sterling.
There is more but I’ll let John explain when he sees you what we have in mind.

Neither fish nor fowl then, I look forward to seeing it at the meeting and whilst I acknowledge that you wanted out of the budget market there is still a need for one.

I like the look of it, the features should be a way of selling it up by £100 I hope .

The problem to consider is that there is going to be a significant “hike” in prices across the board over the next couple of months due to all the exchange rate problems. Until that happens and things settle down again, there is no surefire way of knowing what the new price banding of a “budget” machine is going to be………

So in essence it only has a two year warranty then?

Ian I know what you’re saying but, in all honesty, unless we get paid in advance for a cheap machine then we just can’t do it. It ties up too much capital with the extra line for a very small return and, with the existing 2, we’ve proven that a lot of the people that only buy the 2’s don’t pay/don’t pay on time.
Most people that have access to here there’s no issue with but there have been a few people that haven’t paid or ar$ed us about and it has led to a situation where we’ve made booger all on the 2’s as the margins are so tight.
You also have to understand that the market is in total chaos, the sub £200 machine seems to be dying with very little now under that. There will always be some, but if you want to sell them good luck. 🙂
The £2-300 range is going to be the next battleground for the cheap machine but, in that area, few people are making any decent money.
If the Pound rebounds it may become viable again to do a lower spec and priced machine but for the moment it’s simply not viable.
Then add to that that, if we bought now at today’s rates and the pound does rebound, we’re then too expensive and we’d get, “Oh you’re too dear now so we’re buying XXXXXX instead.”
In short we can’t win. So, as Chris points out, until the market settles back down again and stabilises a bit a budget machine is extremely unlikely unless we can get people prepared to buy as a group.
It’s not so much that we wanted out the budget machines it’s more a case of it isn’t viable to do it at present and, TBH, in some ways it’s a sh1tload of hassle to do.
Yes Jim, 2 year warranty so we can hit the price point primarily. But it also leaves the door open for a 5 later in the year if it’s possible given the above. There will be the facility to extend that to the full 5 years and you’ll likely get a kickback for that.
