ParticipantHi, can anybody help throw some light on a dishwasher problem?
We have a Smeg DWI 612C dishwasher that stopped on the Pumping to empty stage of the cycle. I Have Stripped the drain pump down it seems ok, drain pipe seems quite clear too. I have re-connected the pump to the dishwasher dr(so that I can see it functioning) and it trys to runs for about 1 second and stops, making a Bleep is there any way of checking whether it is the pump at fault or somthing more serious like an electrical fault?
I have also tried to reset and restart the cycle but it absolutely refuses to co-operate.February 11, 2009 at 3:33 pm #276575keithwilliams

the machine will be displaying an error code via a combination of lights on the control panel. cross refer this to your manual or for more info a service guide to identify the fault which it thinks it has. the bad news is that smeg dishies can be troublesome, however the most common faults are easily cured.

Thanks Keith. Unfortunately our model is not the one with the fault option. I think it is likely to be the board but don’t want to replace it and then find that whatever caused it to burn out in the first place is still a problem and will do the same to the repaired board. Unfortunately none of the suggested factory resets are working which makes me think the fault is electrical. We have had the machine for about 6 years and this is the first problem so can’t really complain!

All smegs throw up a fault code ,on the 612 its a sequence of flashes of the prog lights looking from the left.

Thanks, when the fault occured and the machine got ‘stuck’ we attempted to restart the cycle from the start. It would not restart and still won’t. To the best of our recollection it stopped with only the 5th light from the left being on, which is the light for the wash programme it was running up until then.
