I’ve just replaced the thermostat for my Hotpoint Iced Diamond Fridge/Freezer Model RF64P. I’ve double checked the wiring and it’s definitely OK but although the light comes on you can’t here anything else working. Is there anything else obvious that can go wrong with a fridge/freezer or does anyone think I may have just bought a dodgy new thermostat? I’d really appreciate any help or advice as it’s driving me crazy.
    Many thanks

    🙁

    Hi

Are you sure that you have wired it correctly ? Do you have power going to the compressor ?.

If you have then its possible the compressor has failed.

Thanks for your advice, it might be better if I just buy a new Fridge/Freezer.

    Re: Dodgy Thermostat

was it working BEFORE you changed the thermostat?????

If “yes” likely you’ve wired it wrongly

If “no” you need to check that there is continuity from the mains-plug to the compressor-motor….if you check this with a multimeter on “ohms” range, (UNPLUGGED, of course!) you may be able toturn the ‘stat control sufficiently to switch on-off and confirm it works…..but in any event, if you have continuity to the motor, but it doesn’t run, it could well be kaput.
