ParticipantI cannot recall seeeing this on the forum anywhere but I know that you can fit the FHP Motor onto the WM series if my memory serves me right by rotating the motor plug 180 degrees and moving the motor plug down one position ?????
Is this correct ? I know that you must ensure that the two tacho connections are correct
Anyone know if this is right ? I know that there is a conversion kit for this but a Hotpoint engineer told me about this quick and easy swap.

ParticipantYes saves you loads of time changing the wires into a new connector plug, just snip off the keycoded lugs on the plug, ensure its the right way and the tacho,s match and plug her in.
This does not work obviously for the earlier models that have the large in line plug.

A proper job would be to change the motor plug Prt No 1604976, it only takes 10 mins.

Reversing the plug is perfectly acceptable and is/was standard practise for Hotpoint engineers.

just make sure you position plug correctly..or you will get a nice little bang from the timer/pcb..
at the time these motors were making there way into the market place
i was with b/g and some twat responsible for puchasing spares bought 6000 fhp motor for the wm series.. only problem was he bought the anolouge ones. (the ones with the bolt in the tacho for adjusting motor wash speed)and good old spares were passing them off as motors for digital (timer/pcb)..
took them a while to realise the problem..w/m getting written of left right and centre..
think they moved the spares purchases further up the ladder where daily mistakes arent noticed so much ??

Funny enough it was a HP Engineer that first told me that he and all the other HP guys used this procedure, sure changing the motor plug is the correct way but the two methods = the same outcome do they not ?
Thanks for the refresherFebruary 8, 2009 at 1:08 pm #276611Phidom

I never understood why they didn’t simply specify the same plug arrangement as on the GEC motor when they introduced the FHP type. Or is the same FHP unit used on other makes of machine? 😕
