We’re looking for a replacement tumble dryer and we would value your opinion on recommended manufacturers & models please.

Our elderly vented dryer has a delay timer which we use all the time to take advantage of cheaper night-time electricity, so that would be a definite feature we’d want, together with low / high heat options too. We tend to use it a couple of time per week, for bedding & towels mainly, so a good 7kg capacity is preferable with a large loading access. It will be sited in a utility room at the back of the house, so noise isn’t too much of an issue.

Also, having spent a confusing afternoon looking around a large showroom, we liked the look of the condenser dryers, but are not sure how they compare to vented – although the prices were fairly similar. The helpful staff said they sell considerable more condenser dryers then vented – only adding to our confusion!

Any suggestions – to buy or to avoid, would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    George

. . . . and I also meant to say that we don’t really want to spend more than about £350 on the new tumble dryer!

Hope you can help : )

    Re: Tumble dryer recommendation please

Thanks for that suggestion, I take it you would recommend a condenser dryer then?

We have a Zanussi washing machine, which we’ve been pleased with, but have recently bought new Neff appliances for my kitchen, so had automatically begun looking at Bosch dryers – yesterday we looked at the Bosch WTE 84307 which is efficiency rated as B, whereas most still seem to be C rating. Energy consumption is 3.92kwh. Apparently it also won Which ‘best buy’ last November too, though I haven’t read the report myself.

Presumably you’d suggest a Zanussi / AEG over Bosch for washing / drying appliances then?

    Re: Tumble dryer recommendation please

Just found this one for just under £300 – would you recommend it?

    Zanussi ZDC 6755OW

It’s got a time delay option & is also B rating energy efficiency

I’d be grateful for any comments/opinions.

    Thanks, George

    Re: Tumble dryer recommendation please

All the current Zanussi dryers are pretty well screwed together using the same basic componentsm, so choose the one with the options which suit your needs.

    Re: Tumble dryer recommendation please

Thank you for taking the trouble to respond – you’re the experts!

Even having decided on a budget & several features we want, there still seems to be just too much choice out there, particularly when the choice of vented v condenser also enters the equation! I’m more than happy with our Zanussi washing machine (touch wood) so I think we’ll take your recommendation & go for one of their dryers too.

Many thanks once again – you guys have been very helpful

    Btw Penguin,
You also responded to my query a few weeks ago about varying heights of dishwashers – thanks once again for your reply on that too, we took your advice & went for the taller 860 model.
    Cheers
