Hello, I have a Zanussi ZFL1023 Jetsystem washing machine manufactured in 1989 and the door seal needs replacing.
Is this one the same as other Zanussi’s with the spring that attaches the seal to the outer tub? I have worked on a Washcraft Z9191T where this was the case. However, this one seems to be different in that there’s a plastic rim (about half an inch thick) between the drum and door seal. Does this affect the replacement at all?
The product number is C72035 / 914 590 023.

Throw plastic ring away. Replacement seal (502062787009 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly) has a different profile to the inner lip and the ring is no longer rquired.
Yes, it’s the spring gaiter band.

Thanks Penguin! Your response is very helpful. I would have been forever wondering how to fit the plastic ring back on. This machine seems to be one of the ‘proper’ well built Zanussis so is well worth spending a bit of money on.
I have the seal already and will fit it when I get chance.

Just to update, well I finally got round to fitting this today.
A warning to anyone planning to change these Zanussi seals – it’s a soul destroying job trying to get the gaiter spring back onto the outer tub. I have cut my fingers to shreds and it’s the first time I’ve had cause to swear at a washing machine repeatedly!
Eventually wedging something between the spring in the recess and front panel acted as an extra pair of hands and even then it was still almost impossible to stretch it all the way round.
I can’t help but think there should have been a better way!
