ParticipantHi Folks
Got one of these and got to change fan motor but when I tried to get the fan of the enevitable was waiting for me. The collet nut has siezed and all that hapens when I try to get it undone is the whole thing goes round on the motor shaft. :rolls: (what a stupid design, as if this is never going to happen :rolls: :rolls: :rolls: )
Got to go back now I got motor and fan but was wondering if anyone had this prob and how you got the fan off.
Would saw thru the nut normaly but looks dificult to get a Jun hacksaw in. Thought about melting the fan with a blowlamp to expose the collet but that seems a bit drastic so just wondered if you folks got any suggestions.
Any help or comments appreciated
Thanks
Mick

He would’nt be the first one to forget that small detail..ahem.. 😳 Worth trying a mini blow torch on fan & WD40 technique.. suprising how often that actually works 😉

Never failed to get one off yet, WD40 works wonders, or was that Double Diamond. 😀

Thanks for the replies guys,
Did think it could have been a LH thread but wasn’t sure but did try it both ways but collet just seemed to go round in fan or fan shaft.. Did put some WD40 on b4 I left – with luck it might have soaked in and no prob.
Was just trying to pre-empt a problem in case the WD40 didn’t work!
Wonderful stuff WD40 and washing up liquid. The peps who invented them deserve an oscar.
