    Hi Chaps.

I was wondering if any of your memories were better than mine!!, Its quite a while since I replaced a hotpoint twin tub motor. The old spin motor is the relay type, with black, red & yellow wires, which burnt out. I’ve found a replacement motor, but it’s the later type wiring i.e. blue brown & red. I seem to remember that these were interchangeable, but I could be wrong. Again I can’t remember if you have to change the relay for a capacitor (memory is’nt what it used to be!!). If anyone could advise me of how to change the motor(if it is posssible) and the wiring change and capacitor rating etc, it would make some old dear very happy.

    Thanks guys.

from memory (also not that good) i thought the motor came with the capacitor and new fixing plate for the capacitor, that never seemed to fit quite right.

Capacitor is a 12 mF. Not interchangeable without the capacitor.

    Blue lead to neutral.
Brown to capacitor on its own.
Red to capacitor linked to pressure switch or feed from lid microswitch.
