ParticipantHi,
I have an integrated Whirlpool ADG 7440 (Service No 8545 440 15820) for about the past four years. It only gets used about twice a week.
It has now started to play up in that it stops just after starting and then beeps rapidly. The wash programme has moved from 50 degrees eco to cold rinse.
The ‘on’ light is flashing 7 times between the pause. Sometimes it has flashed 6 times before the programme moved from the 50 degrees eco.
I have cleaned the filters and the black grid in the well. I have taken the machine out to see what is going on inside. Water is entering into the fill matrix for about 20-30 seconds and then it stops and the machine empties and then the beeping starts.
I have looked at this post :
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … eter+metreIt appears that marauder has exactly the same problem but I am confused as to what is meant by : “F7 is flow meter failure. Normal problem is the edge connector oxidising. Removing it, cleaning the connector and contact pads usually gets thigs going again. Give the connector a pinch before re-fitting.” I took the connector off the side of the fill matrix and the connectors were clean and shiny, no evidence of them oxidising.
I have also checked the control board connections and the all appear to be okay.
I have spent hours now trawling the forum for a definite steer to the problem and am now totally scundered.
Need your help Penguin, please 🙁

If the contact pads are nice and clean and you’ve got continuity to the pcb, the flow meter itself may well be faulty. The water wheel contains a magnet, which is moving past a reed switch on the little pcb. This is not a spare part – only the assembly is available – HERE.
That said, there are several threads where people have sourced reed switches from the likes of Maplins or Radiospares with success.

Thanks Penguin.
Is this the most likely cause of the fault or is there anything else that could be the problem?
If I get a new side fill chamber, is it a straight forward job to replace? Does it just pull up and out or is there anything holding it in?
Regards

Reading your initial post, you seem to have evaluated the other options, so the flow meter/water matrix is about all that’s left. I can’t tell you with absolute certainty without getting “hands on”, so it’s your call.
Fitting is pretty straight forward after you release the vent surround on the inside of the cavity. It’ll lift away after you release the hoses.
Stay safe, power off first, of course.

Penguin, just writing to say thanks. Ordered the part you said, which arrived next morning, fitted it and the machine is working fine.
Regards 🙂
