    Hi,

I wonder if any of you guys can help me understand my problem.

I inherited this washer/dryer when I bought my flat last spring. I’ve used the washer regularly, once or twice a week in that time and had fine results. I’ve used the drier for a total of about 40 minutes (no, I wouldn’t have chosen a combination machine either…!).

After what seemed like a week of bad luck elsewhere (isn’t it always the way…?) I loaded it up for a wash and switched on to find that it didn’t start to fill, nor did the drum turn.

Instead of filling, there was a faint buzz. Then, instead of turning, there was a moderately loud buzz. I’ve checked the drain behind the kickplate. It’s clear. There are no flashing lights to suggest an error code. I’ve tried different programmes (including drying). I’ve tried pushing the drum round and it turns freely as normal. Nothing alters the fault behaviour.

I’ve searched here for ideas, but can’t seem to find a thread that deals with this problem. Sorry if there is a relevant post and I’m just being dense in not finding it Please direct me and I’ll be very grateful if that’s the case.

Otherwise, is there anything else I can check? Am I likely to be able to replace a part to get it going again? I’d be happy to try new brushes, but the lack of filling action makes me think things can’t be that simple.

    Thanks in advance,

    Avo

Buzzing and no fill = no water inlet.

Ok, ok I admit it was silly not to check the water…!!!

You are clearly THE wise one Penguin45 – wasting no extra words on a problem you can solve with pithy aplomb. Thanks for your response.

My lame excuse *lowers eyes in deference and embarrassment*:

The defunct dishwasher that used to sit next to this washer/dryer was carted away to a new home a few days ago. The cold fill for it was obviously turned off. And the same pipe supplies the washer/dryer via a Y-connector. Hence no water inlet (as you say).

The fact that I’d been away a week (and had a lot else on besides) contributed to my failure to connect the two events.

I’ve just had the joy of seeing the machine working once again – yay! And had the added fun of discovering how well a Y-connector can imitate a garden sprinkler in the comfort of my own little kitchen! …the cock is some distance away from the connector (and I’m tired).

Anyway, again my thanks – many, many thanks,

    Avo
