I wonder if it’s the same reason why condensation settles on plastic brush housings causing the trip to blow. ❓

Hiya,
Plastic doesn’t retain heat very well. Crockery and cutlery dry by residual heat after a very hot final rinse.
Not enough residual heat in plastic to dry itself.Brian 😀

Participantalso water runs off crockery and cuttlery where as plastic has a rough surface and retains surface water, using rinse aid helps with cuttlery and crockery but makes no difference with plastics.

Thanks for the replies.
If I sprayed WD40 on affected brush housings would that be as good or better than drying them off with a hair dryer? (Of course I would give it time for the volatiles to evaporate before firing up).

Now theres an idea, supply every dishwasher with a can of WD40 to be sprayed liberally over the crockery before removing. 😆

I think the previous correspondents have got a little hung up on your dishwasher plastics link Mike. But the answer you seek is yes, WD40 displaces any water and spraying damp brush holders with it is quicker than messing with a hairdryer. 😀
