    Hello all,

My AEG C68000KF four-zone induction hob has been reliable for years but is now faulty.

When trying to cook on any of the zones the heat setting display irregularly flashes between the setting and ‘f’, and I hear the sound of a relay clicking on and off. However, if I request maximum heating then sometimes the flickering stops, heating remains on, and I can reduce the heat setting to the actually desired lower value.

‘f’ supposedly indicates inappropriate cookware, but in my case the cookware is induction-compatible and has long been used with this hob. I’ve opened up the hob but see two circuit boards separated by a cooling channel and fan, i.e. not an obvious single point-of-failure corresponding to all four zones failing together. I’d appreciate any guidance/diagrams, etc..

Plenty of reads, but no one has any suggestions? All gratefully received.

Having more disassembled the hob I can ID the PCBS. 629.901-02 & 629.902-02 on either side of the heat sink power the zones and sense the cookware. Since all zones are similarly faulty presumably these boards are OK. 629.890-01 on the reverse of the surface plate handles the human interface. That leaves 629.914-03, to which the other PCBs communicate. It is stuffed with surface mounted components and presumably is the control module. Can I trouble-shoot this? Is a replacement available?

The hob has deteriorated further and now doesn’t heat at all, but displays a constant f with compatible cookware on any zone. Is this a clue as to what’s going on? Are replacement circuit boards even available? The AEG website is useless…

    Hi

You need an engineer to check your hob ,as the electronic parts are very very expensive. And are non returnable items if you order the wrong parts.

Well, a Service Force engineer has been and gone. He didn’t diagnose a fault but I did later receive a telephone call from a non-technical person at the company saying that I needed a new ‘module’, at a cost equivalent to two new hobs! Whether the engineer did research the problem after he left, or whether the company just preferred to not undertake the repair, I don’t know.

So, would someone who has access to parts lists please post what modules are available, and at what cost, so that I might guess which one corresponds to the PCB that I want to replace.

    Cheers.

To conclude, I’ve given up and bought a replacement.

Does anyone where old induction hobs are laid to rest? For my own satisfaction I would like to scavenge parts and attempt a repair.
