ParticipantHi all, first timer here. Since yesterday, our Indesit WIDL 126 has stopped working to the degree of allowing me to turn it on:
1: Red padlock light flashes when I close the door
2: I press START/RESET button until the top of the 4 Lights turns on and then off > then to the 2HR status. Then that’s it, the green light remains on but there is no water gushing into the soap power tray and it just stays that way. No flashing lights, nothing. When I hold down the START/RESET button again for a few seconds, all the lights come on then go off again once and then it’s back to the normal gree light on the 2HR setting.
I’ve replaced the pipe which the water come in on, managed to drain it of all water from lastnights load, and the little filter at the bottom was totally clean. I have now opened the TOP and BACK, but can’t see anything out of place – not that I even know what I’m looking for 😯
I’ve trawled through the Forums and can’t seem to find anyone who has the same issue, please, can someone shed some light on this?
We have had the washing machine for 3 years now (from new) and it’s been fine all along.
Thanks!!! :rolls:

Miraculous. 😀
Article on drive motor carbon brushes HERE.
Replacement Indesit brushes may be found HERE.
Power off if you intend to investigate this yourself.

Hi guys, we do have a 2 year old who pressed a few buttons just before we were leaving yesterday and and I quickly managed to stop him and having looked to see if any changes were made, everything looked fine (or so it seemed). I did read up about the start delay, but wouldn’t the washer reset void that? I read here that you can do so by having the door open and repeatedly pressing the power button.
Also, thank you to all who replied about the carbon brush…exactly where is this?…it looks quiet small. In some cases, is it simply a matter of cleaning it?…or shall I just replace it?
We have an engineer coming in 3 days and would really prefer to not pay the £100!

hi guys, just to let you know that I managed to clean out the mentioned carbon brush and it now works…it really works!!!
Can I just ask for your expert advise on 2 little things please?….firstly, when i opened up the bottom of the washing machine…(link to photo is below)…there appears to be a screw missing (where red arrow is)..is this normal??

Also, on a quick wash, which the manual says is supposed to be 35 mins….last night took 2 hours with the washer on spin cycle for ages…is that normal????
Thanks in advance, I appreciate everything!!

You don’t clean out the carbon brush, you replace the carbon BRUSHES, there are two of them which must be changed as a pair.
If they are worn and you keep trying to run the machine you risk doing terminal damage to the motor or the electronics. 😥
Wouldn’t do any harm to stick a nut & bolt in that hole. 😉
It should not stay on spin cycle for ages but that really depends on what you think of as ‘ages’.
Please do not run this machine again until you have had the brushes changed.
Jim.
