Hi, this is my first post, so please be gentle with me.

My mom’s old dishwasher appears to be overfilling. It fills for about 20 minutes and then water leaks onto the floor. The timer has to be manually advanced for it to carry on with the cycle and stop leaking. It completes the rest of the cycle fine.

Does this mean that she needs a new timer. Or maybe there’s a float switch which needs looking at. Or something completely different, I haven’t thought of.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

    Cheers Simon

Three big hoses run across the bottom of the machine. These fill with sludge and will cause the water level control to behave strangely. You say that it fills for 20 minutes – this is an absurd amount of time. Are you sure that the machine is not syphoning the water away?
