    Hi there,
This 2 year old machine has recently stopped draining water, which gathers at the base.

The “Check Water” light comes on but the machine will still appears to be spinning internally, even hours later.

I’ve checked the filters and the water waste pump as best I can. Although the small wheel (on the water pump) does appear to be slight sprung or on a coil. Is this normal? If I flick it clockwise/anticlockwise, it won’t spin freely for long.

If I try and reset the machine or put it on a different setting to kickstart the draining action, it sounds like something is trying to happen – but it doesn’t sounds healthy!

I doubt its a blockage in the waste pipe. I’ve got both panels off either side (everything is powered off and unplugged). But can’t seem to make any progress.

    Please advise.

    Many thanks

The ‘spring’ action you can feel on the pump impellor is correct . Its a magnetic motor and so feels like its pinging on an elastic band.

Just a thought . Did you have to take off a cover off in the sump to access the impellor? The drain pump won’t drain properly unless this cover is replaced . It needs the cover in place to build up water pressure to drain correctly .

Oh , and what connection is there on the end of the drain hose , into your plumbing/waste system? Have you disconnected the waste end and tried draining the appliance into a bucket ?

    Thanks nomadPaul,

I did take the small cover off the sump / impellor to check for any debris, i’ll double check that it’s firmly back in place.

The drain hose is clipped into the kitchen waste pipe under the sink. I’ll disconnect it tomorrow and see if it drains. Should I check the drain connection at the other end i.e. going into the base of the dishwasher?

It looks like access is going to be awkward.

    Cheers

Check the sink connection first…you’d be surprised at the amount of gunk that can build up there.

Great advice – checked the connection to pipework under the sink on Sunday afternoon…..and it was properly clogged up.

The draining of water action, still sounds a little ropey at times, but it works which is the main thing.

    Thanks
