    Hello all, i hoping someone will be able to help with our problem.

    The dishwasher (hygena ahy 8122) trips the ring main as soon as its pluged in, even with the switch on the door turned off.

    Ive used the search & found a possibility of the mains suppressor (although that was a different make & model)

    About 4 months ago it had the flood/overfill problem & sorted it with help of the search facility on here.

    If you have everything switched off and the machine trips the ring when plugged in, then this would suggest that there is a short circuit between live and neutral or live and earth.
    Very likely to be the mains suppressor. All machines have then (they are a legal requirement, stops your machine interfering with your neighbours telly.) If it has gone, usually but not always, it is obvious, you may well find a big hole blown in the side. If it is not clear you can safely bypass it for testing purposes only.

    There is also the possibility that there is water in the base of the machine from your previous fault, and it is shorting out. Check this first.

    BEFORE DOING ANYTHING MAKE SURE THE MACHINE IS UNPLUGGED.

    Rite then ive checked underneath & no water.

    Is the suppressor on the back of the wiring block & has three wires to it? If so ive found it & no obvious sign that its blown.

    Ive been able to confirm the part i have off is the interference suppressor.

    So im going to see if i can pick one up locally.

    Will post what happens. 😆

    ok then, tried the dishwasher with it removed & it didnt trip. 😆 😆 😆

    Excellent me thinks, new suppressor & away we go.

    Managed to get one local & fitted it this evening & al is well 😆 😆 😆

    Until i plug it back into the original socket & it trips again :rolls: pull it out & try the socket above the work top & al is well.


    The thing is the washing machine is also plugged into the socket underneath & thats been running fine today :bang:

    Any ideas????????????


    Going to fit a new socket front tomorrow & also the fuse spur at the top. If only to discount them.

    The socket that it works in is on the same ringmain as the one it doesnt.

    Pretty much answered your own question, really. Socket must be breaking down internally. You’ll probably find the innards cooked when you swap it.

    Stay safe – power off.

    Well after running the machine in the other socket it tripped after 5mins. :rolls:

    So ive come back to the original conclusion that its the dishwasher at fault & not the suppressor. Maybe a seal gone & getting something wet & shorting.

    So new dishwasher & replace the plug fronts.

    Off to read whats recommended on here.
