ParticipantBosch SGS43A22UK/01 dishwasher. FD8212.
This machine is the grey moulded base type with the float and reed switch fill sensor.
I’ve removed and cleaned the float (customer had fiddled with it before so I am presuming the float goes in with the clear magnetic bit at the bottom 😕 ). Also removed and cleaned the tracks on the reed switch and refitted. Still overfills. Tried the float up the other way, no difference.
Any info on this would be appreciated. I seem to remember a post a while back that stated there was a mod for this type of dishwasher that did away with the reed switch and float. How true that is, I don’t know; but out of interest………..:wink:Thanks,
Steve.

I’ve had one where the float had leaked causing this, the tell-tale sign was a tiny amount of condensation on the inside of the float.

Steve. Is this an “impellor jug” thing? They’re not dear, it’s worth having a swapper in van stock. (It’s just feasible that the rotor could wear and stick so it’s more than just a reed switch).

No, this is earlier than the impeller jug type – there is a magnetic float in a channel next to the filter in the sump and a reed switch clipped to the outside of the sump. The reed switch is influenced by the position of the float in its channel. It’s just that this one is blatantly ignoring the float….

If it’s just runaway fill and cycles on the flood protection, it’s the pcb. There is a mod – which I can’t find……….

Maybe the magnet may not be effective. Might be worth trying new float?

First part of the fill is via the pcb and has nothing to do with the float/ switch. Agree with Chris, its a pcb problem. Needs the mod

I know this mod was a superceded PCB; the BSH site shows no alternative to the original. It also still shows the float and reed switch; hence the question. I can’t see the timed fill bit though, as mains water pressure is infinitely variable, so what would the fill signal mechanism be after the modified PCB is fitted?
Well confused am I….. anyone have a part number or info on this mod? 😕Steve.

Superfix mentions something in this thread but gives no details.
