The igniter on our Bosh hob (E-Nr NET630CEU/04) started to run continuously (according to phone call from my wife!) Before I could get home and find where to turn off the mains power, it had stopped the continuous running – indeed, it had stopped working entirely! I presume it is not rated for continuous sparking and just overheated and burned out. Tried ordering a replacement on the Bosch web site (P/n 166037) but got message “no longer availble”. Are there any alternative sources? or alternative components?

    Any suggestions very welcome!

have you even tried the fuse in the plug
i bet she was cleaning it when it happened?

cant really advise you much on the isse, forum rules prevent us from advising on gas repairs, sorry

Re: Ignition Device on Bosch 4-burner gas hob

Thanks for quick reply. I’ll check the fuse (always best to do the simple stuff first!) but I’d be surprised if the unit could blow the fuse just by repeatedly sparking, and there was no cleaning going on!
As regards forum rules, I’m a newbie here but I can appreciate the issue about needing corgi registration for any dealings with gas connections – but I’d hoped that dealing with a purely electrical component that did nto disturb any gas connections would not have been problematic?

But if I need to go via a corgi to get the bit and have it fitted I’d be happy to do that, if only I could find somewhere that still stocks the bit!

an email to the online shop will get you a price and availibilty very quickly
    theyre very good

the rules state that if a panel needs to be removed, a corgi fitter must fit the part

harsh, but safe… always best to put safety first

thank you, please check the fuse first, it may be as simple as that
