ParticipantHi,
My Whirpool fan over decided that it had, had enough the other day and tripped the RCD out at the same time.
The fan element does not heat up at all (although everything else seems to be working ok) I have removed the element and although I do not have a meter to test with I have done a basic continuity test with a battery and a bulb/speaker and have confirmed there is no connectivity.
My question is, bearing in mind the RCD tripped is there likely to be any other issues? and also where can I get the replacement element as I dont seem to be able to match the part number to anything on this GREAT website…

Elememt is almost certainly the culprit. Would you please post up the 12nc number (the one that starts with 8 ) as there are numerous variants of the oven.

It should be THIS ONE.
You may like to check the pcb on top of the oven. Element failure can blow tracks off it; then it gets very expensive…..
Power off first, please.

I assume that if I get hold of a meter and check that there is current to the element when the oven is on (i used to be a spark many years ago, so i will be careful) then the PCB is ok?
Also when you say on top of the oven, do you mean take the oven out and get to it from the top panel?
Many thanks again for your assistance…

If there is power to the element, it should function…….
Please note (Being a Public Forum… ) that UKW does not condone, support or advise on any form of “live” testing. Use of a test meter to perform a resistance test should suffice – 25-30 ohms is typical with a fan oven element.
This is an obligatory Public Safety Announcement.
